Indulge

As the season shifts and the days grow shorter, it’s easy to find ourselves indulging – in food, in comfort, in busyness, or even in doing nothing at all. And sometimes, we feel the weight of it – in our bodies, our energy, or our minds.
Let’s be honest – sometimes we overdo it. Our culture loves the idea of “balance,” but what if overindulgence, every now and then, is part of that balance? Here’s something beautiful to remember: yoga doesn’t ask us to be perfect. It asks us to notice. Overindulgence, when it happens, can actually be a quiet teacher – reminding us what it feels like to move out of balance, and how deeply grounding it is to return home to ourselves. In yoga, we learn to notice – not to judge.
When we overdo, we awaken awareness. We begin to recognize the difference between what nourishes us and what depletes us – not from judgment but from experience. We rediscover gratitude for simple things: fresh air in the lungs, a gentle stretch, a clear mind after rest.
So instead of guilt, we can offer ourselves kindness. Instead of restriction, we can offer balance. Our yoga practice isn’t about perfection – it's about remembering that every moment, even the messy or “too much” ones, are part of being human. Life isn’t meant to be all discipline and detox. Yoga teaches us to enjoy the fullness of being human – pleasure, mistakes, laughter and all.
So, this month, if you’ve gone a little overboard – whether its with sweets, screen time or staying up too late – try this short mantra: “I honor all parts of my experience”. Then, roll out your mat. Move gently. Breathe deeply. And remember – balance isn’t about perfection; its about returning home to yourself, again and again.
