Letting go of perfection

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on treating myself with more kindness. Realizing I don’t need to optimize, win or perfect everything I do. Not everything is a life-or-death situation.
We need to stop obsessing over doing everything perfectly, especially with hobbies meant to help us unwind. Sometimes, I’m tough on myself when I make a mistake teaching a yoga class. In my pursuit of perfection, I end up robbing myself of the joy that yoga is supposed to bring.

Letting go – of perfectionism, guilt, or self-criticism- can be liberating but challenging. Some of the things I am working on:
· Reframing mistakes as growth opportunities
· Setting intentions, not expectations
· Practicing mindful acceptance – allowing myself to not be perfect
· Making it to my yoga mat more frequently
Yoga pulls us into breath and body awareness -which helps us step away from the constant mental noise. The “perfect” pose is a myth – everybody’s body is different. Yoga teaches us patience – it takes practice and time to develop some poses. Yoga reminds us that progress doesn’t need to be fast, flashy or flawless.
Join Satsanga Yoga on your mat for inner reflection – and letting go of judgement. Come be present, find movement into poses without being perfect and find the joy of moving your body with no expectations.
