Sept 2023 - Being Present

Theresa Mozzocci | SEP 1, 2023

Over the past few years, I have been working on being present. I started pre-COVID by making an effort to reduce my use of technology and social media. Then COVID happened, and I was re-introduced to the benefits of both technology and social media- as it was those sources that allowed me, and all of us, to remain connected.

Being in the moment is a state of mind where you are fully engaged and focused on your current experience or task without getting distracted by thoughts of the past or worries about the future. To me, it involves accepting the present without judgments and letting go of unnecessary distractions. Being present is a skill that takes practice – finding my flow on my mat helps me with being present.

Practicing mindfulness and being present can have numerous benefits for mental and emotional well-being, including: reducing stress, improved mental clarity, enhanced emotional regulation, better relationships, increased productivity and greater appreciation. Over time, with consistent practice, we all can cultivate a greater sense of presence and mindfulness in our daily lives.

Other techniques to help you be present: take an hour a day and do a technology detox; focus for 15 minutes just on your breath; take a walk (without tech); set an intention before you begin an activity; write in a journal/diary.

Join Satsanga Yoga on your mat on a regular basis – online “live” virtual classes or the library of videos that are offered thru our website.

Class Highlight: Go to the Satsanga Yoga library of videos to practice anytime and anywhere; making it easier to get to your mat on your schedule. The library has videos of varying length. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced yogi, you can find videos to suit your needs.
