Summer's Peak

Theresa Mozzocci | AUG 1, 2025

Every year when August arrives, I get that anxious feeling that summer is almost over. To a lot of us raised in the northern hemisphere, August is considered the summer peak. The relationship of yoga and the peak of summer share a natural synergy, as warm weather and longer days create ideal conditions for enhancing yoga practice.  Before the month is over, try these to enhance your practice:

·       Practice Outdoors: August’s warm, sunny weather encourages outdoor yoga sessions in parks, beaches or gardens. Practicing yoga in nature can deepen mindfulness, with the fresh air and natural surroundings enhancing relaxation and focus.

·       Physical Benefits: Summer’s heat can make muscles more pliable, improving flexibility and reducing the risk of injury during yoga poses.

·       Mental Wellness: The summer peak often brings a sense of freedom and leisure, aligning with yoga’s emphasis on stress relief and mental clarity.

·       Seasonal Energy Alignment: In yoga philosophy, summer aligns with the solar plexus chakra associated with energy, vitality and transformation. Summer energy can inspire practices that boost confidence and personal growth.

The peak of summer can be seen as a moment to pause, reflect, and prepare for the descent into fall and more introspective energies.
