Welcoming 2025

Happy New Year! This is the time of the year we set resolutions and think about getting really healthy or making big changes. It is easy to set these goals at this time of the year because we’ve just spent the holiday season being over indulgent. Those resolutions usually don’t last because we fall back into our daily life and we set challenges that are not feasible over a longer time period.
I find all the information out there today on how to live a healthy and a longer active life to be extremely interesting and also very over-whelming. I’ve listed some of the highlights I picked up this year – and some that don’t require us to completely give up something:
• Using a sauna regularly. This is a practice that goes back thousands of years and is observed across many cultures. Sauna bathing is associated with many benefits, from cardiovascular and mental health to fertility and athletic endurance.
• Cold exposure. Cold exposure is used regularly to reduce muscle soreness and promote muscle recover after physical activity. It is now thought of to improve glucose and lipid metabolism, decrease inflammation, enhance immune function and improve cognitive performance.
• Intermittent fasting. This has become popular due to recent studies which have shown its beneficial effects on human metabolism and healthspan.
We live in an incredible time of discovery on how our everyday choices affect our longevity and most importantly, help or hurt our chances of living our best active life.
Join Satsanga Yoga on your mat and keep your body moving so that you can function/move optimally and improve your lifespan.
